 This herbal combination assists in gastrointestinal tract cleansing, and produces anthelmintic action. It is used for chronic constipation as a soft purgative. It possesses anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action.

Garlic contains a great amount of phytoncides,  as it possesses powerful antibacterial and antiviral effects. It produces anthelmintic action and increases immunity. Garlic suppresses fermentative and putrefactive processes in the intestine, reduces the amount of gases in it as a wonderful means against flatuism; it increases appetite, improves gastric juices secretion, assists in digestion, produces choleretic action.

A strong phytoncidic activity of the plant is related to allyine glycoside, which is transformed into allycine under the influence of allynaze enzyme.

It was stated that volatile fractions exerted by the garlic pulp produce toxic action towards yeast fungus, and kills yeast cultures. It produces the same action towards different kinds of microbes by inhibiting bacterium reproduction.

Quassia is known by its purgative effect. Its leaves contain anthraglycosides, flavonoids, gums, alkaloids, organic acids, phytosterols. The main active ingredients are anthraglycosides, which possess purgative effects. Under the influence of digestive enzymes they decay into sugars and glycogens, which irritate the digestive tract mucous coat receptors, intensifying intestine peristalsis.

Affecting the big intestine, quassia does not produce toxic influence into the body over a long-term use; it works softly and painlessly. Anthraglycosides produce a slow purgative effect, which is not exchanged with future constipation. It is used as a purgative for intestinal function regulation for chronic hypokinetic constipations, hemorrhoids, and anal fissures.
