 Cayenne pepper (Capsicum) possesses strong antioxidant action, its active ingredients are:

• alkaloid capsaicin, which provides counter-attraction effect, intensifying blood flow;
• essential oil that improves digestion;
• carotinoids that stimulate immunity;
• vitamin C, which possesses immune controlling action.

It improves blood circulation in the minute capillary vessels and intercellular spaces of an inflammatory area, increases appetite, helps with indigestion, stimulates the metabolism process, activates “burning” of calories, and carotinoids increase the protective powers of the body’s own interferons.

Marshmallow is used for inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, stomach and duodenum ulcer). Its healing properties are determined by the ability of polysaccharides contained in its root in covering the mucous coating with a thin layer, providing anti-inflammatory action. Additionally, the mucous-polysaccharide complex adsorbs microbial, viral, and toxic products discharged by the damaged cells of the epithelium, inactivates them and prevents toxins contact with the mucous coat. Under such a mucous layer the activity of an inflammatory process slows down, the thick cells and crusts soften, erodes and ulcers heal faster. The slime from the marshmallow root provides pain relief and anti-inflammatory action.

Peppermint has a favorable action for gastrointestinal tract spasms, flatulism, sickness and vomiting, liver diseases, cholangitis (inflammation of a bile duct), gall-stones and hepatitis.

Myrrh gum from the African tree Commiphora molmol provides effects such as: anti-spasm, increasing the flow of bile and detoxication. This is a flavored gum flowing from the bark from the trees of commiphora stem and is of the same family as real incense. Myrrh trees grow in Africa on the shores of the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, and also in the Arabian Peninsula, and Asia. Avicenna devoted the whole section of “Medicinal canon” to the myrrh, where he noted: “Pure myrrh is useful for weak stomachs bile and abdominal swelling”.
