 DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) is an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which is an essential nutritional element, not formed in the human body. A great amount of DHA is contained in the fish oil of certain fish (mackerel, sardine, salmon), zooplankton, sea mollusks, and dinoflagellate micro water-plants.

Until recently fish oil was the main source of DHA. Now RBC presents phytogenous docosahexaenoic acid – sourced from micro water-plants oil.

DHA is accumulated in brain membrane structures, nervous tunic of eyeball and the reproductive system. DHA is the main building block, comprising 30% of brain cells and is a main component of the retina of the eye. DHA is the prevalent polyunsaturated fatty acid in human breast milk, and an extremely important substance for the proper development of a child’s brain, eyes, and nervous system.

People with higher concentration of docosahexaenoic acid in the blood stream are twice as likely to suffer from dementia and are 39% less affected from Alzheimer's disease. DHA lowers the level of protein in the body; increasing the potential for Alzheimer's. Moreover, the element derivative from DHA named “neuroprotectine D1”is produced in the human brain and also plays an important role in brain cells atrophy protection. It was found that “neuroprotectine D1” in certain parts of the brain is responsible for memory and the thinking processes, is 20-25 times lower in people suffering from Alzheimer's disease than in those of healthy people.
